Welcome to the Mauna Loa Observatory Teacher Education Center. This collection of web material is intended to assist teachers and educators in creating informative and interesting lesson plans for their students. Like the other sections of the Education Center, this area will be expanded soon, so please check back periodically for updates.
- Lesson Plans
The Lesson Plans section contains several lesson plans we have created that teachers can recreate or adjust to fit their needs. These lesson plans contain educational background information about the project, a list of materials required for setup, and pictures of the end products, which are often small, hands-on learning centers that can be setup at a school or even a home or office building. - MLO Activities
The MLO Activity section describes in detail activities that can be setup at the MLO office in Hilo, Hawaii for classes and student groups that visit the office for an organized tour or field trip. This has occurred on special occassions in the past and may be available upon request. See the General Visitors page for more information. - Teacher Links
